This semi-sheer sunset-mustard piece is thoughtful simplicity at its best. The textural print that covers the saree gives it the most subtle depth, setting the stage for the mottled custom-designed flowers. Earthy reds and violets are used to fill the floral scatter placed carefully in sections of the saree.
Colours of soft moss, warm earth and soft patina were chosen for this stunning georgette. Our expert wood block carver Sreeram created a set of large layered floral blocks to have a subtle overlap, enhancing the textures. Milan and Banu created a base of fermented gum arabic resin to mix a diverse palette of colours. The finest of textures was hand carved into a single wood block, which itself took 30 man hours to make! Using shades of warm browns and olive, this texture was hand printed on the sari to give an ombre effect.
Once printed, each layer was dried, and finally the silk georgette was rolled and steamed. A long slow steam fused the colour into the fabric. Once done, it was hand washed by Chandramma using a mild soap and then dried in sunlight.
Each saree is packaged in a handmade cover, with a floral sachet and a note signed by our artisan family. Gift this to yourself or someone you cherish!
