This stunning saree features a range of techniques, both old and new. Satish and Indira curated 12 unique wood blocks ranging from flowers, textures and geometric lines combined with hand-cut floral stencils to plan the layout. Our expert wood block carver Rajak created an overlapping floral design. With a precision that can only come from years of expertise in craftsmanship, Satish and Krishna Bhatt block printed each colour and texture in layers.

The prints were brought to life using the traditional 14-step technique of resin reactive printing for this distinctive effect. Banu and Yashodara made the printing pigments by fermenting gum arabic resin over two days. They hand-mixed almost 10 unique shades, making sure each hue would stand out against the rich indigo dyed background. Once printed, each layer was dried, and finally the silk georgette was rolled and steamed. A long slow steam fused the colour into the fabric. Once done, it was hand washed by Chandramma using a mild soap and then dried in sunlight. We took more than 40 hours to make this saree.

Each saree is packaged in a handmade cover, with a floral sachet and a note signed by our artisan family. Gift this to yourself or someone you cherish!
