Woodblock printing originated 4000 years ago, and spread through the Indo-Pacific region. Beautiful handblock printed textiles come alive through carefully chiselled teakwood blocks. Our private archive has more than 6000 wood blocks, collected over many decades, including vintage brass blocks.

Workshop activities

Learn to carve your Wood Block

We will introduce you to the fine craft of wood block carving. Working alongside master artisans with 35+ years of experience, you will learn to carve a simple teak wood block using traditional hand-forged chisels.

Print your own tote

Once your block is ready, you can print an organic cotton tote using your own wood block, and handmade organic dyes. Combine your block print with motifs from our vast collections.

Inspired by the trees and beautiful birds that surround them, they endeavor to create beautiful block printed fabrics using only organic certified dyes. With skilled artisans that have decades of experience, this is a 100% fair trade initiative and strongly endorses ethical labor practices. Their fine fabrics can be found in the finest of designer showrooms in India, US, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia.
