This silk georgette saree in vibrant sky blue is an experiment with unusual colours and techniques. It is lined with a striking crush-dyed spectrum of blues and greens fading into print. With big floral stencils, white gulmohar highlights, and layers of tonal printing; every part of this saree has something to discover.
This saree is a beautiful play of techniques in hand-dyeing and block printing. Banu, Yashodara and Shama meticulously hand-dipped sections of the fabric in hues of blue and green dye baths prepared at our studio. Indira worked with Mallikarjun to create large-scale floral frames with hand-cut stencils. Satish layered these with smaller gulmohar motifs to create a spray of flowers all along the hem.
Working with the pattern-dyed base, Yashodara and Banu hand-mixed 14 unique shades to complement the multi-coloured base. This striking contemporary yet vintage saree was carefully printed layer by layer, taking almost 40 hours. Once printed, the layers were dried and then the silk georgette was rolled and steamed to fuse the colour into the fabric. After which Chandramma hand washed it using a mild soap and dried it in the sun.
Each saree is packaged in a handmade cover, with a floral sachet and a note signed by our artisan family. Gift this to yourself or someone you cherish!
